DOGGIES!!
My dream of owning a dog has finally come true!
I have this wish since young and I promised myself that I will keep a dog once I have my own house. I really luv dogs (and dolphins.. and horses.. and rabbits... and chicks... my friend once told me I can open a zoo..) but I have this natural fear on dogs. Don't get me wrong, I have never had any bad experience with them and I understand some people are afraid of them because they were bitten or chase by them before.
I was very much expose to dogs since young.. Dad kept them in 3 different houses that we moved into, Granny kept them at her home (I used to stay at Granny's when young) and she used to feed the strays a lot in the neighbourhood.
I've always like Pomeranian because of their fluffiness, cute little face and short snout. German Shephard is also one of my fav breed as they look fierce and strong. Unfortunately, GS is non HDB approved 😔
Two months after we moved into our new home, we went to Pasir Ris farmway to survey on Poms. We had no intention to get a dog at that time as we will be away for 3 weeks holidays so it's only right to get a dog after we come back.
We walked from kennel to kennel but I can't take my mind off this particular Pom in the first kennel that we went. After we had visited all the kennels, we went back to the first kennel to have a look at him. Yes, it's a male. This cutie pie kept jumping and reaching out for us from his open top enclosure when we were looking at him. My heart instantly melted when I hold him and I know I really want to bring him home. Mic was reluctant and persuaded me to get him after we came back from our holidays... but no hor, after 3 weeks someone else would have definitely brought him home lo.
He was 2 months old then and we were only allowed to bring him home after 3 weeks for him to complete his 2nd jab. For that whole 3 weeks, I was feeling excited and happy everyday, thinking of him going to join our family soon.
-The name-
Mic's preferred breed is Siberian Husky while I prefer Pom (Husky is non HDB approved btw, good thing 😛). We talked about what to name our dog long time ago and I jokingly told Mic that we should just name our future dog "HUSKIE" as we both get what we want (I get the breed, and he gets the name. LOL) That's how the word skie came from. In this blog, I'll just address him as KieKie.
Initially I feel kinda bad for not getting his sibling together (KieKie's elder bro was in the same enclosure in the farm). It's our first time keeping a dog so we felt we should learn to take care of 1 dog first before getting another. Shortly after, we found out from FB Pom group that KieKie's elder bro was taken up on the same day by a good owner 😇
